Indie Fantasy Addicts – Blackout Poetry Contest

Indie Fantasy Addicts – Blackout Poetry Contest

The IFA ran a fun summer reading challenge. Participants gained points and won prizes for having the most stories under their belt, including bonus points for extra games.

I’m honoured to share the results of my Blackout Poetry Contest, one of the games IFA members could play to bump up their score.

For the contest, the member had to use words from Inside Voices, my collection of short and flash speculative fiction.

The Awesome Submissions

From Ggprof Ny
Raindrops puddle red
soaked dragons spin spells in tears –
rain muted to snow

From Donna Adamek
Elvish spells cloak path
Creature turned back to statue
Peasants avoid death

From Ana Cordoba
Death, salvation forged strips away,
progress. Cowering beasts bite,
slobbering minions burrowed, isolated
unseasonable heat. Sinuous lips entwined
sanity. Sliver corpse shuddered below
contact. Peasants digging metallic filter, forced laugh.
Ghost tricks Rosemary heartache ointment, feeble
skin echo haunted translucent sea. Mangy creature
whistle untainted wrath. Wistful seekers alone,
colouring rainclouds. Spells F-A-I-L-U-R-E.

From Edwin James
#mothersofdragons
Dawn forged yellow ball
Thawing forests bones
sky fluff drifting onward
Heat Mother Nature’s Green soul

And there’s one more poem but I’m awaiting permission to post.
