I’m Buzzing!
It’s been a day of story explosion in my head. It really makes me feel like I’m on the right path.
I started The Queen’s Viper in my head over breakfast at a Heathrow hotel in December 2013. Making a conscious effort to pay attention to the world around me, I felt predatory. A character was born. Over the next two weeks, my rough concept emerged influenced by travels to Scotland and Ireland.
The story expanded from a stand-alone book to a trilogy after a lively discussion of my concept with Nina Munteanu, author and teacher I met during Ad Astra.
I’m working with a 30 chapter guideline, 2500 words per chapter.
Honouring my need to learn, I read some of Nina’s book and watched a video about story line development. For re-branding myself, I tweaked some of my social media.
Today I developed a storyboard with 13 chapters in Modern London and 7 in Old London so far. In letting my imagination run wild, I found a secondary character named Clare and started work on three others. I did additional research into Tudor and Elizabethan history.
Tonight I close my eyes with over 2300 words on the first chapter completed. My target for writing a chapter in a day almost achieved! The final part of the chapter is in my head, I just have to punch it out on a keyboard.
I feel very accomplished today. Which is great because tomorrow I have my steady income job and a parent council sub-committee meeting to take up my day.
