Hellooooooooooooo world!

In case you missed my  exclamation filled Facebook post, my final drafts are now in the trusty hands of my editor Nina Munteanu and my proofer Michelle.

I AM SO CLOSE TO PUBLISHING

Of course, I still face the silly matter of getting my cover sorted out. I love the letter V and the story it says through its simplicity. I’m also quite taken with the “don’t mess with this bitch” impression of Viper fashioned by the talent of Desiree Kern. To make matters a bit trickier, I’ve had an unforseen delay in getting the cover produced (from the graphic design perspective). Such is the life of not being able to do it all!

Typical of me, I put my release deadline smack dab between the busiest month of my son’s school year (we went on holiday and returned to the last stages of planning his school fun fair), and my planning for and departure for Pennsic  War at the end of July.

Pennsic War is an event where 13 000 or so folks from around the world recreate aspects of medieval life in Pennsylvania for two weeks. If I don’t have enough clothes to wear, I have to run my own sweat shop and get busy making them! And I’m making the winner’s illuminated scroll for the winner of the Estrogen and Axes tournament hosted by the Kingdom of Ealdormere.

I also want to pick a date that doesn’t conflict with the promotions of my author pals Kati Nika Raet (Monster book release party), Eric Hood (Melabeth: Purification through Fire pre-order/signing), Joy Eileen (Breaking Faith pre-order), Lilo Abernathy (The Light Who Binds)  and K.K. Allen (The Equinox).

If I have to delay my release until August, then I’ll be saddened, but not defeated. For it will make me no different than the major corporations that postpone releases and go over budget! (No, that never happens.)

One piece of exciting news to share: I’m partnering with the talented Graham Yeats for audio promos. He gives good voice!

Completing a manuscript is only the first step to indie publishing. Marketing and publicity takes up a lot of time – time I’m willing to spend. However, I still need to fit in into the day job, the family life and the pursuit of other author-related projects.

Sigh. If I could clone myself…

Fingers crossed, I’ll get the book uploaded for sale before I head to Pennsic.
