Holy cow, has this been a crazy couple of weeks! And it isn’t over yet.

The release party for The Queen’s Viper is this Saturday.

I don’t know if I’m going to sleep because I’m so excited! Seriously, I don’t sleep well when my brain spins – and it certainly is doing a lot of spinning this week.

The party plans are coming along nicely, and I’ll be sharing some of the details tomorrow. Today, I’d like to introduce you to my sponsors.

KWL

Kobo Writing Life is a publishing and retail platform for eBooks founded in 2009.  I’ve really enjoyed working with this author-friendly company. They provide a independent author-publishers the opportunity to sell their content on a global level in a competitive market. Based in Toronto, KWL offers support to authors including converting manuscripts (.doc file) into ePub. I’ve worked with KWL to layout the cover of both my eBook and the full print cover, with fantastic results. Moreover, KWL is Canadian! Kobo reaches millions of people around the globe. I’m very thankful to Kobo Writing Life for providing a Kobo Auro H20 waterproof eReader to one lucky winner at the event.

Velvet Mae's Glass Press

If you love the magic of tradition, then Velvet Mae’s Glass Press is the artist you want to meet. Michaela is the powerhouse behind beautiful pieces of wearable glass and stain glass art, made in centuries old traditional style. I know Michaela through my medieval hobby and I can personally attest to her impressive talents. She hand paints glass, binds books in medieval techniques with leather, and makes such impressive pieces, you won’t want to let your windows be boringly plain again.

My favourite might be the traditional medieval stain glass window with the Doctor Who TARDIS hidden in the blue glass.

Some lucky winner at The Queen’s Viper book release party will win a one-of-a-kind glass pendants like the ones below (may not be exactly as shown).

Who wouldn’t love custom jewelry? Victoria, the owner of Xaltv, makes unique pieces that mix modern class with old world flare. I’ve know her for several years, and I love the approach she takes to making her wearable art using both modern and ancient tools. She grew up in Holland Landing and learned from an early age how to mix creativity, function and comfort. No detail is overlooked by this young entrepreneur! One lucky winner at the book release party will win this star ruby sterling and fine silver ring (size 8).

Completing the simplest tasks can seem like the most troublesome part of my day, not because of the nature of the job, but because of the time it takes to accomplish it! Two years ago, we trialed a company to help with our basic domestic cleaning. Am I ever glad we did. Created in Ottawa, Concierge Home Services is a company that takes care of everything you need for your home to function seamlessly behind a hectic work day. Etobicoke franchise owner Dale Murphy understands how the home has become a dynamic work, living and play space, and Aquhorthies Publishing has been his thankful client for approximately two years. Dale will provide a certificate for one hour of free consultation and service to the lucky winner.

ezone

This party would not be successful without great food served by wonderful staff. I have had the pleasure of working with eZone Tap & Grill for other functions, and of going there for my own enjoyment. Owner Rueben has a smile that instantly puts you at ease. This entertainment venue is part bar, part reception hall and part fun zone including laser tag, whirly ball (playing a kind of lacross with cars), mini cosmic bowling, a sports zone and more. Honestly, I wanted to book out everything and have a book reading, but my budget won’t allow for it (this time). If you head to the eZone, have the oh-my-gosh-I-can-go-to-heaven ribs.
