Where and When to find me at Can*ConSF:
Archeology: Indiana Jones vs Real Life Friday 9 p.m. (Sunset Rm., 2nd Flr): (moderating) This panel will question representations of archaeology in fiction and share knowledge of actual archaeological sites and research that may inspire new narratives in your next novel or non-fiction reading binge. This is also your chance to ask archaeologists about their work, new technologies that help archeologists, like radar, archeo-DNA analysis, and chemical and molecular analysis.
Brave New Baby Saturday 11 a.m. (Sunset Rm., 2nd Flr): Tremendous new medical tools are now available to improve lives and combat disease, such as stem cell banking, gene therapy, cyborging, and early integration with technology. What exactly is the field of now and the medical field in 20-40 years from now, and how is science fiction engaging with it?
The Ed Greenwood Group’s Stormtalons Saturday 1 p.m. (Dawn Rm., 3rd Flr): Ed Greenwood made his fame with the creation of D&D’s Forgotten Realms. He re-enters the world of fantasy with several dozen other novelists and short story writers. Ed and his authors discuss what they are creating in the vast new fantasy world called Stormtalons.
Shakespear in SF Saturday 4 p.m. (Dawn Rm., 3rd Flr): 400 years after his death, we continue to use Shakespeare’s characters, themes and plotlines in the stories we tell.
